Introduction

Usually, WESP(Wet Electron-static Precipitator) is set behind the wet desulfurization device. After desulfurization, the saturated flue gas carries a large number of water droplets which are captured when passing through a high voltage electric field, reducing the probability of gypsum rain formation.  At the same time, it has a good effect on the collection of fine particulate matter PM2.5, acid fog and so on, and the smoke emission concentration can reach no more than 10 mg/m3.

How It Works

Basically same as electrostatic precipitator (ESP), the WESP goes through three stages: charge, collection and dust collector.

However, as different smoke environments, dc high-voltage electricity ionizes the gas in the space near the cathode line. while dust particles move and deposit on the dust collector anode surface under the action of electric field force after being charged, and ESP vibrates hard to remove dust, while WESP uses dust collecting anode surface water film or washing to remove dust. WESP is to separate aerosols and suspended dust particles in the gas by means of collecting electric dust, mainly including the following four complex and interrelated physical processes:

(1) Ionization of the gas;

(2) Condensation and charge of aerosol and suspended dust particles;

(3) Charged dust particles and aerosols move towards the electrode;

(4) The water film makes the plate clear of dust.

 

There are tens of thousands of volts of dc high voltage between the anode and cathode line of the WESP. Under the action of a strong electric field, the corona layer is generated around the corona line where a mass of air is ironized, thus producing a majority of negative ions and a minority of positive ions. This process is called corona discharging. The dust (fog) particles enters the WESP by smoke, and become charged by means of being collided with these positive and negative. The charged particles move towards the anode due to the action of coulomb force in the high-voltage electrostatic field. After reaching the anode, the charge is released, and dust (fog) particles are collected by the anode to form a water film, which is separated from the smoke by gravity or washing accumulator tank from top to bottom or the absorption tower.

Composition Module

1. Anode tube set (module)

Anodic control set consists of the inscribed circle ? 360 hexagonal anodic tube adopting flame retardant glass fiber plate which is of good integrity, high intensity, the concentricity of the anode tube and high parallelism.

2. The cathode system

The cathode system includes the cathode corona line and the integral cathode line fixing frame and connecting bolt.The cathode frame is 316L. The cathode line is a high-efficiency burr pole line, and the material is 316L. Improving current and electric field intensity can well meet the requirements of WESP in high-effciency and corrosion resistance. Meanwhile, it can better meet the requirements of high operating gas velocity to adopt integral cathode line fixation at the cathode line end.

3.Insulator compartment and high voltage feeder box

The power supply area of the wet dust removal device is on the top of the tower body, with a separate insulator box, which has an insulated box with leads and a cathode frame fixed at the bottom. The insulating box adopts large-diameter porcelain casing and special sealing material. The insulating box top cover and the cylinder body are insulated by aluminum silicate fiber to ensure the insulation of the box is more reliable and more energy-saving.

4. Flushing water system

An interrupted spray device is arranged on the upper part of the anode tube, and the anode tube and the mist eliminator are washed by using the clean water of the process tank. Flush for 5 minutes every 24 hours according to actual operating conditions. Flush water and rinse directly enters the absorption tower circulation pool.

5. Electric heating system

Since the precipitator operates at positive pressure, it prevents condensation and contamination of the insulator. An electric heater is arranged inside the insulating box to ensure the insulation of the insulator is more reliable. The inside of the insulator box is equipped with a heating device and an automatic temperature control device. The heating is uniform and the temperature is detected accurately. It can effectively prevent the mist from entering the insulation box and prevent condensation of water, and has a certain maintenance space.
